Dear Parent,

Preparation programmes for the Sacraments of Initiation will be offered in the Parishes of Cessnock and Kurri Kurri throughout this year.

Sacramental Program in our Parish is Parish based. You the parents are the prime educators in all aspects of your children's lives. Our role as a Sacramental Team is to work with you and your child offering support, guidance and the tools to help your child to continue their faith journey.

Enrolment will take place during the information sessions and it is extremely important that you understand the commitment you will be making. You are asked to consider the following points before enrolling your child/children:

• you must be confident that your child is ready to participate fully in the preparation sessions;
• your family calendar needs to be checked to ensure attendance by at least one parent at all sessions, including Mass (please do not ‘send’ your child with another family – your personal involvement is required);
• you are prepared to engage with your child throughout the preparation (eg complete any home tasks and continue ‘the conversation’ about the sacraments in your family life);
• Baptismal Certificate must be provided;
• each child is required to have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation before being enrolled in the Sacraments of Confirmation or First Eucharist;
• there is a cost involved which covers resources and incidentals (please place money in an envelope with parent and child’s name on outside and bring it to the first session of each preparation).

Sacraments of Initiation.

If your child attends school in Year 3 or above, they may be enrolled in the

Parish Sacramental Program.

The Kurri Kurri Sacramental Program in 2020 is as follows:

Reconciliation

A Parents meeting will be held on Thursday 27th February at 7.00 pm

at the School Library of Holy Spirit Kurri Kurri, Barton St Kurri Kurri.

The program consists of four children’s sessions on

Sunday 8th March,

Sunday 15th March,

Sunday 22nd March,

Sunday 29th March

First Reconciliation will take place on

Wednesday 1st April at 7.00 pm

Confirmation

Parents are invited to meet for information about Communion and Confirmation on Wednesday 13th May at 7.00pm at the library of Holy Spirit School Kurri Kurri.

The children will attend a Confirmation Formation Day on Sunday 24th May

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be on Wednesday 27th May at 7.00pm

at Holy Spirit Church Kurri Kurri

First Holy Communion

The children will attend four sessions on

Sunday 2nd August,

Sunday 9th August

Sunday 16th August

Sunday 23rd August

First Holy Communion is on Sunday 30th August
